Abstract

This article examines the role Sahabiyat of the (may Allah be pleased with them) in the Prophet’s ﷺ battles. It aims to highlight the role of women in jihad in Islam, clarify its legal ruling according to the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and shed light on the position of the Muslim woman today. The study adopts descriptive and historical methodologies for analysis. It consists of an introduction and three sections.

The first section discusses the concept of battle, its legitimacy, and the ruling on women’s participation in it. The second section highlights the virtues of the female Companions who participated in the battles. The third section outlines the lessons derived from their participation.

This study concludes that the Sahabiyat of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) played an important role in the battles. Their participation was legitimate and guided by the Qur'an and Sunnah under conditions of necessity and modesty. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion provide timeless lessons and affirm that Islam recognizes the active contribution of women to both religious and societal spheres within ethical boundaries. Understanding their roles helps to correct misconceptions and inspires Muslim women today to serve their communities with confidence and a commitment to Islamic values.
